At the year-end concerts, FHIMA scholarship winners were announced and acknowledged by their directors.  Altogether FHIMA gives out $1500 to 8-12 graders for the students to use for musical expenses, including camps and private lessons. We also give out 2 music workshop scholarships to each elementary school and to the selected 7th graders. Congratulations to all these fine young musicians. Parents – keep an eye out for next year’s scholarship forms which should come out in the spring of 2010.

Goals for FHIMA:

1. To promote the activities of the instrumental music department of the Forest Hills Schools 
2. To promote an interest in all groups of the instrumental music programs
3. To lend moral and financial support to the instrumental music departments
4. To cooperate with the music department and school administration in maintaining the music department at the highest possible level
5. To adhere to the Constitution and Bylaws of the Forest Hills Instrumental Music Association

Services FHIMA provides:

Uniforms

FHIMA purchases, distributes, and maintains uniforms for the AHS and THS bands, orchestras, and color guards.

Scholarships

FHIMA awards scholarships to students in the elementary, middle school and high schools, and graduating seniors.

School Reps

Each school has a Representative who acts as a liaison between FHIMA, the teachers and the instrumental groups.  The Reps assist the directors with projects during the year, including concerts, awards ceremonies, photos, etc.

Newsletter

Three or four newsletters including important instrumental music information are mailed to parents each year.

How can you join?

All parents of instrumental music students are members of FHIMA. Any community member and/or parent of an instrumental music student is welcome to become an active, supporting FHIMA member by making an annual contribution of $10.00 or more.
