Elementary Band Information

Welcome 5th and 6th Grade Band Students and Parents!  This page is designed to give you access to information concerning all that will be happening during the school year.  The schedule is included as well as a list of our concerts.  You will also find a list of goals that students should be working very hard on each week to become the best musician possible.

Materials:

• 5th Grade- Standard of Excellence Book 1 (red cover)
• 6th Grade- Standard of Excellence Book 1 (red cover) and Book 2 (blue cover)
• Smart Music Software (Optional)  www.smartmusic.com

Concert Dates:

October 25: Meet the teacher @ Anderson H.S.

December: Winter concerts (see building calendar for your schools event)

March 13: District 5th Grade Combined Concert

March 24: District 6th Grade Combined Concert

May 18: Band Blast @ Turpin (Sherwood, Wilson, Mercer)

May ??: Band Extravaganza @ Anderson (Summit, Maddux, Ayer)

Helpful tips to make you child's experience in band a successful one:

• Students should practice at the same time each day to develop great habits-Aim for regular practice 15 minutes a day, 5 times a week. 
• Participation in band is a year-long commitment. This is to ensure that your student has the long-term motivation to overcome challenges that await them as they learn these new skills!
• Private lessons are available and encouraged for extra help.
• Communication will be delivered via e-mail.
